Making the Sauce

Let me start off by saying I am sorry.  I feel like such a terrible blogger, mostly because I am.  I have a hard time remembering to post when so much is going on.  I have been swimming (at championships I earned a medal), and volunteering at the hospital (I finished my 100 hours today with time to spare).  I have probably lost all of my readers so I guess it doesn't matter much but I will post anyways.

So, a few weekends ago my cousins came to visit.  My cousin Bill went out and bought a milk crate full of second string tomatoes for ten dollars with intentions of making pasta sauce.  The tomatoes were a colorful sight, they were red, yellow, even green.  We had such a great time and I hope to see them again soon!

H Mart, Not a Tacky Curtain Store

Glico Pocky Biscuit Sticks with Strawberry Cream, 1.41-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 10)

Attending a boarding school exposed me to many different cultures, Russian, Indian, Korean, Mexican, Japanese, etc.  During my visits in the dorm rooms, I would see many different snacks, mostly Japanese.  I always envied them, they had the soda I could only find at Epcot in Disney World.  Since I am not aware of the name, it has been difficult for me to find these snacks.  Not anymore.

Today while on the way to pick up a special order of fabric, I noticed a sign, it read, H Mart.   H Mart I wondered, thinking it was probably some tacky home furnishing store with ugly curtains.  I was wrong, H Mart is actually a wonderful place if you happen to love Asian snacks, sodas, and fruits.  H Mart is certainly a SUPER-market.  It has a multitude of everything from Korean face cream to my favorite Japanese soda.  We couldn't stay long, my mother had a hard time with the odor of the fish, I certainly enjoyed my time there.  I was so excited, frantically looking from aisle, picking up anything that I recognized or just looked good.

They even have a food court.

If pants could kill... well they do now

I found some pants that would kill me today. I was looking around on the Bloomingdale's and I was looking at the leggings and pants section. I found a really tight pair of shiny black pants that Joe Jonas would probably wear :p

I decided to get a closer look. These pants are called "Aqua Women's Latex Liquid Leggings". Jokingly I asked if I could have them for my birthday.

"Sure I'll get those pants for you, let me just go get some life insurance"

"What do you mean" I asked.

"If you have too much exposure to latex, you would get an Anaphylactic Reaction and most likely die"

Awesome.

Dulce De Leche, Snow Day, and other wonderful things

Complete the analogy:
Flipper is to seal as:

a.) tusk is to elephant
b.)gill is to fish
c.)wing is to bird
d.)fin is to penguin
e.)engine is to car

Okay that was the SSAT analogy for the day

Anyways,

Yesterday was a snow day and I got to make some Dulce De Leche (yum yum).

Dulce De Leche is a caramel sauce with a thick consistency, and goes great on crackers, and fruits.

I got an easy recipe at //www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/michelle-bernstein/dulce-de-leche-recipe/index.html

Ingredients
4 cups milk
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
Vanilla extract

Directions
Scald milk in heavy bottom sauce pan. Add all other ingredients, cook on medium low until it turns into caramel, about 1 hour.

Sincerely,
D
